Tip of the Day

How well are we listening?
Effective listening takes practice, effort and time. The good news is it’s a skill that can be developed. Begin by tuning out distractions and block your assumptions and biases. Use attentive body language when appropriate –stop what you are doing, turn to face the speaker, lean in a little and make eye contact. Repeat back key details and ask clarifying questions (how, when, what, where?).
Every moment you invest in listening can help lessen irritation and avoid conflict. It’s also a sign of respect.
