2013 – Uganda Parliament Passes Mini Skirt Bill_1.1

Uganda Parliament Passes Mini Skirt Bill.
Published: December 20, 2013, Chilli Red Pepper.

The new legislation will outlaw any material showing parts of the body intended to cause sexual excitement.

The Ugandan parliament on Thursday passed an anti pornography bill. The proposed new legislation will outlaw pornographic material, any showing of sexual parts of the body, including breasts, thighs or buttocks or any erotic behaviour intended to cause sexual excitement.

Mini-skirts and overtly sexual music videos could also be affected by the bill.

When Simon Lokodo, Uganda’s ethics and integrity minister, proposed the legislation earlier this year, he said that women who wore “anything above the knee” should be arrested.

The bill needs to be approved by the president before becoming law.

Uganda is a socially conservative country – it is also considering legislation to increase the punishment for homosexual acts, including the death penalty in some cases.

The new legislation will outlaw material which shows parts of the body including breasts, thighs and buttocks, or any erotic behaviour intended to cause sexual excitement.

It will also ban anything that shows indecent acts or behaviour intended to corrupt morals.

Uganda is a very poor less developed country with corrupt and inefficient leaders. Instead of dealing with the poverty, infrastructure, health and education issues, the best the parliament can do is come up with morality laws and dress codes. You can never put laws to manage or govern morality, it is an individual’s choice.
